The iPhone has been improving over the past several years. I know… I would have rathered a headphone jack too, but overall it has improved. Wouldn’t it be great if it could be a little heavier and more prone to viruses though? Of course! This gadget does all that and more. The Eye takes your iPhone and straps an Android on the back. Presumably this is designed so that you can enjoy the perks from both worlds, but in my opinion you should just finish that glass of Kool aid and stick with the iPhone.
For years, the IOS vs Android debate has been heated on the internet and in person. The Eye is a smart iPhone case that stuffs a five-inch Android device on the back. It incorporates a few extra sim card slots, a microSD port, and a 2800mAh extra battery that plugs into the iPhone and charges wirelessly. This growth that expands your phone weighs 3.5oz and is self-sufficient except for piggybacking off the iPhone’s camera, mic, and speaker. They say it can use the iPhone’s internet connection, which I would like to see for myself.
With 27 days to go, the Kickstarter project has exceeded its initial $95,000 goal by reaching 337%. My question is, will this be that useful? Are we so indecisive that we cannot choose between phone producers? And if so, is it worth the $230 price tag that has been slapped on? I say, if this sounds appealing enough to fork out the cash at least go get it now, while the price is a bit more reasonable at $130 on Kickstarter.
I think the idea of this “hack” is neat, and I would be interested to see if this can gain traction and popularity among the public. The Kickstarter video is actually a little funny with the hip grandma struttin’ it. The Eye iPhone case, bulky and impractical as it is, might be a fun add-on for the iPhone.
